when pigs fly

My friend and I love repurposing old things.  All of the decor in my house is from some thrift store, goodwill or antique yard.  You can read more about this here on a recent post I wrote for Sunny Slide Up.

Well, recently I took another leap of faith and decided to take my refurbishing, my “junking” and my art to the next level and get a booth at an Emporium in Lexington, NC.  The Purple Pig.  You can find it online and on facebook.  Go and like their page to keep up to date on everything that they have going on!

Here is a snap shot of our booth!  There is a little bit of everything from old barn wood, vintage finds, original artwork, fabric and more!  We are having a blast with it and have already sold a few items – that green chalkboard you see below – SOLD!

When we started this booth, we of course needed a name 🙂  My friend and I were both raised in the south and LOVE big front porches and let’s be honest, what is a front porch without a swing?  So… the name we chose is Porch Swings and Simple Things.  I am completely in love with our name!  It fits us so well!  See below for the logo that I came up with!  I did a simple line drawing of a swing and added a paint brush effect with color. What do you think?

I will be putting a lot of artwork and line drawings in the shop.  Here is a Porch Swings & Simple Things print I recently finished that will soon be for sale in our booth!  Can’t you see this print hanging in a sunroom?

I will be sure to update everyone on how it goes and if you are in Lexington, NC – PLEASE swing by downtown and check out The Purple Pig!  A great time is this weekend – there is the Lexington BBQ Festival and I’ll be there to meet people – and maybe sneak a peek at Craig Morgan when he performs!  Be still my heart!

I have so much great things going on! Be sure to check out my latest posts on Sunny Slide Up about PUMPKINS here and here as well as what my sis is up to at Yachting Yogini and Organic Soul.  One of the pictures I took of her is up on their site!!! YIPEE!!!
