My friend Adam started an organization, The Vickie S. Honeycutt Foundation. This is in memory of his friend’s mother how was a teacher and lost her battle with cancer. The foundation’s goal is to provide assistance to teachers and educators battling cancer so that their sole focus can be on recovery. This is a great group of people with such excitement and I am honored to have been able to work with them.
This year the group held their first Field Day 5K. It was for people of all ages and athletic ability to come together in support of the Foundation. This is when Adam came to me for some design help.
They already had a logo (see below) but needed to come up with something that they could use as the Field Day 5K logo.
I wanted to keep the essence of the logo, but create something that had more of a game day/race day feel…add some excitement and color. I knew we would be outside, so I played with the green in the leaf to put a little more “life” into it. Adam and I were really happy with how the final logo turned out!
It was almost race day, and we needed shirts. I have designed a few shirts during my career, but it had been a while so I was excited to get started on this project! Here is the front of the shirt:
And here is the back. Adam chose a great quote that I really feel captures his mission.
I will tell you… as a designer, it is a GREAT feeling to see your work come to life and this time in particular was extra special! The race was this past Saturday at Frank Liske Park and everything ran smoothly. There were almost 200 registrants and everyone had an amazing time! There is already conversation about next year’s race. To stay informed you can follow them on facebook or visit their website.
Below are a few pictures from race day!
